Field Testing

Description

Field testing has a place in any triathlon training plan. The Triple Threat Tough field tests add additional data to the VO2 and Blood Lactate tests. The TTT field tests are used to refine an athlete's training zones. Each of the TTT field tests was developed specifically for adding additional information to the training zone determination process and monitoring the athlete's training progress. The field tests are specific to the athlete and his current fitness level. The field testing service includes the field tests, results interpretation and training zone determination, and consultation.

After the initial round of field tests, subsequent field tests can be used for monitoring the athlete's training progress. Field tests can be used to:

  • Monitor an athlete's return to training after injury or illness.
  • Monitor an athlete's progress towards a training goal. For example, achieving a specific run pace at a race.
  • Field test results can be used to refine a race plan, i.e. swim/bike/run pace or heart rate for the race.

Swim

The swim test will determine swim pace training zones. The test protocol will be determined after consultation with the athlete and is based on the athlete's current fitness.

Bike

Functional Threshold Power testing. The FTP test will determine heart rate and power training zones. The test protocol will be determined after consultation with the athlete and is based on the athlete's current fitness.

Run

Functional Threshold Pace testing. This run test will determine heart rate and run pace training zones. The test protocol will be determined after consultation with the athlete and is based on the athlete's current fitness.
